MSI GS65 Stealth

CUK MSI GS65 Stealth Thin Gaming Notebook (Intel i7-9750H, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB, 15.6' FHD 240Hz 3ms, Windows 10 Home) Gamer Laptop Computer w/ External DVD-ROM Drive

The MSI GS65 Stealth is a great laptop to play Rust on. But before we go over its strengths, here are its weaknesses. The first one is the build quality.

The laptop is made from aluminium but surprisingly it has a lot of flex to it. The most affected parts are the lid and keyboard.

Secondly, the smooth finish of the aluminium body makes the MSI GS65 a fingerprint magnet. You will have to keep a cloth close because you will be cleaning it often to get rid of the fingerprints.

The laptop also runs hot when put under heavy loads. This is a symptom of most thin and light gaming laptops. Because they don’t have enough space for cool air to circulate they tend to run very hot and throttle.

Nevertheless, MSI GS65 is a powerful performer. It comes with an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 Hexa-core, 16 GB RAM and an NVIDIA RTX 2060.

The RTX 2060 is a powerful card. You will be able to run the majority of AAA title games smoothly on high settings.

The RAM is a dual-channel which is a good benefit to have because it increases performance not only in games but in other areas too.

The SSD is also very fast in accessing data so you will see very fast boot-up speeds and loading times in Rust and other games. The downside is the low storage capacity it has which can be solved if you replace it with higher storage capacity.

The battery life is also decent. You can get 5-6 hours of battery power under normal usage.

Also, the 15.6 inches Full HD (1920 x 1080) 144Hz 72% NTSC display finalizes it into a great gaming laptop. A high refresh rate display is a must if you want to achieve a high FPS.

It also minimizes screen tearing and stuttering making gaming much more enjoyable. Smooth gameplay is amazing gameplay.

The MSI G65 has its strengths and weakness. The strengths make up for its weaknesses making it a great gaming laptop. One of the best laptops to run Rust.

Pros

Thin And Light

ASUS ROG Zephyrus M

ROG Zephyrus M Thin and Portable Gaming Laptop, 15.6” 240Hz FHD IPS, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, Intel Core i7-9750H, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512B PCIe SSD, Per-Key RGB, Windows 10 Pro, GU502GU-XH74-BL, Blue

This ASUS ROG Zephyrus M is meant for those who want to play Rust and AAA title games on MAX settings.

A 9th Gen i7 six-core, 16GB RAM and a GTX 1660 Ti . This laptop has a lot of power to play Rust on high settings.

The storage device is a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. One of the fastest around and enough storage capacity for games.

The display is a 15.6 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) 144Hz IPS. A fast display that reduces the visual distortions (screen tearing, stuttering and ghosting) when playing games.

The laptop is also able to achieve a maximum of 144 FPS without tearing or stuttering during gameplay.

Furthermore, it is a thin and light gaming laptop. Weighing only 4.4 pounds (2 kg) and less than an inch thick. You can easily carry it around.

The battery life is also decent for a gaming laptop able to last 4-5 hours under normal usage.

Although the ASUS ROG Zephyrus is one of the best laptops to play Rust. It has downsides.

First of all, the keyboard is shallow because of its short travel. Secondly, even though the laptop looks great the display lid has quite an amount of flex. Finally, the RAM is single channel. So you can’t take advantage of dual channel memory.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus is not a perfect laptop but what it does exceptionally well is performance. This is a laptop if you prefer performance in AAA title games above everything else.

It also runs cools allowing it to push out better performance than majority of the gaming laptops. Highly-recommended if you are looking for a gaming laptop that can run Rust.

Pros

High Refresh Rate Display

Amazing Performance

Good Cooling System

Slim & Lightweight

Cons

Shallow Keyboard

Display Flex

Single Channel RAM

ASUS Zephyrus M Review

Acer Predator Helios 300

Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop PC, 15.6' Full HD 144Hz 3ms IPS Display, Intel i7-9750H, GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, 16GB DDR4, 256GB NVMe SSD, Backlit Keyboard, PH315-52-78VL

The Acer Predator Helios 300 is Acer’s flagship budget gaming laptop. Not only does it provide insane performance for its price it also has solid build quality.

A mixture of metal and plastic results in little to no flex to the screen and on the keyboard.

The non-mechanical keyboard is also a great feature. Yes, it is undisputed that mechanical keyboards have the best tactile feedback and key travel. But this one actually delivers.

When it comes to gaming performance the GTX 1660 Ti certainly delivers. A mid-range gaming graphic card.

It’s able to give you high FPS high settings on most AAA title games. Rust included. The processor is an 9th Gen Intel i7 six-core and has 16GB RAM.

The storage, on the other hand, might not cut it for you especially if you like to play or store a lot of games. It is a 256GB NVMe SSD.

A very fast one at that. It will boot up your machine very quickly, load games and applications fast thanks to its fast read/write speeds. It allows for fast data access and transfer.

On the plus side, you can swap out the storage device for a larger capacity.

The downsides of the Acer Predator Helios 300 is its poor battery life. Powerful hardware is power-hungry and the laptop definitely has powerful components. Battery life averages 2-3 hours of normal usage.

The display is what sets the Acer Predator Helios 300 from its competitors. A 15.6 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) 144Hz display.

Most gaming laptops in its price segment have either a 60Hz or 120Hz screen. A high refresh rate display making the gaming experience a pleasant one.

Gameplay is smooth with no stuttering or tearing. And you are able to achieve a max FPS of 144.

The Acer Predator Helios 300 is one of the best mid-range budget gaming laptop out there. It has its downsides but the upsides make it a solid choice for gaming.

ASUS TUF

Asus TUF FX505DT Gaming Laptop, 15.6” 120Hz Full HD, AMD Ryzen 5 R5-3550H Processor, GeForce GTX 1650 Graphics, 8GB DDR4, 256GB PCIe SSD, Gigabit Wi-Fi 5, Windows 10 Home, FX505DT-AH51, RGB Keyboard

The ASUS TUF is a revamped model. Previous versions were less powerful and had poor build qualities. ASUS changed that in this model. Featuring a more robust performance and great build quality.

An AMD Ryzen 5 paired with a GTX 1650. The combination not only makes it affordable but also gives it the best price-to-performance ratio. In addition to that, it has 8GB of RAM, 256GB M.2 SSD .

The ASUS TUF has a 15.6 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS. Colour accuracy and reproduction are a little below average. But, the viewing angles are good.

The display refresh rate is capped at 120Hz. You can play games and won’t experience any visual distortions (screen tearing, stuttering and ghosting).

Too much screen tearing and gameplay experience become unpleasant. For the everyday gamer, this is not an issue. It becomes problematic if you are into competitive gaming.

The other negative aspect of the ASUS TUF is its poor battery life. Poor battery life is common in gaming laptop since they have powerful components.

Powerful components draw a lot of battery power. It shouldn’t be a surprise that the ASUS TUF is able to last 3-4 hours of normal usage.

The gaming laptop is also isn’t thin. It is a little over an inch thick and weighs close to 5 pounds (2.2 kg). Also, build quality is solid. It has a little flex but is not alarming even though it is made from plastic. The design is also clean. No fancy red lines.

The ASUS TUF is a gaming laptop that is able to deliver and get the job done. A great budget laptop to run Rust and play games.

Which Laptop Is Best To Run Rust

Here are a few things to look out for when getting the best laptop to play RUST.

CPU

If your budget can afford it. Go with the high-performance Intel Core i5s, i7s Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 processors. Demanding games like RUST require processor with high clock speeds to run smoothly.

RAM

RUST recommends a minimum of 10GB RAM. 16GB is the recommended amount of RAM you should have. If you have 8GB try to upgrade to 16GB RAM. Here’s a guide on how to choose RAM for your laptop.

Graphics

NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti or higher is highly recommended. If you are not able to afford a GTX 1050 TI laptop. Look for an NVIDIA MX150 or GTX 1050 laptop. Just know that you won’t be able to play on the highest graphics settings.
