What Is The Best Laptop For Realtors And Real Estate Agents?

Performance, battery life, build quality and weight. These four are the most important things when looking for the best laptop.

Performance because you will be working with the software. If your processor is not good enough then your laptop will have performance problems.

For this reason, always go with the latest Intel or AMD. For Intel, Core i5 or higher. AMD should be Ryzen 5 or higher.

Tech Consumer Guide Laptop Finder

Next is the battery life. Good battery life is important. Because you will move around a lot to meet clients, close deals, search for prospects etc.

Power outlets are not ubiquitous as you think. Most at times, you won’t even have time to charge your laptop.

A laptop with good build quality is a must. Moving around a lot especially with your laptop is going to have significant wear on it.

Lastly, it’s weight. This is pretty obvious. Which one is easy to carry? A 5lb laptop or a 3lb laptop?

Unfortunately, it’s not easy to find laptops that have all the four. If you are able to find one you should go for it.

Best Overall

Microsoft Surface Book 2

Microsoft Surface Book 2 13.5'(Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256 GB)

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 is a convertible/2-in-1 laptop that is different from most convertibles. In the sense that, you are able to detach the display from the keyboard.

In addition to that, two batteries can be found in it. One in the display and the other in the keyboard.

This gives the Microsoft Surface Book 2 crazy battery life especially when the display and keyboard are connected together. It is able to last for more than half a day when both components are attached.

The display is also impressive. A vibrant PixelSense Display (3000 x 2000) which is bright and has great viewing angles. On top of that, the colour accuracy and reproduction are decent which in turn produces crisp and sharp images.

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 employs the use of 7th Gen Intel Core i5 and 8GB RAM. The processor is great and it’s a quad-core. In addition, to its 256GB SSD, you will get a snappy laptop that boots up quickly.

Even with all its benefits, the convertible laptop is not perfect. It is costly. And for a laptop at its price, there should be a Thunderbolt 3 port which it lacks.

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 is also hard to repair or upgrade if something goes wrong. You have to make sure you get a warranty on it.

Even with its hard-to-repair characteristic. Theirs is no denying the flexibility the Microsoft Surface Book 2 gives you. You can easily swap between a tablet and a laptop.

The best thing is that being able to detach the display makes it a true tablet. Not like other 2-in-1 laptops where you have to turn it 360 degrees.

Pros

Amazing Screen

Great Keyboard

Solid Performance

Great Battery Life

2nd Place

ASUS ZenBook 13

ASUS ZenBook 13 Ultra-Slim Durable Laptop 13.3” FHD Wideview, Intel Core i7-8565U Up to 4.6GHz, 16GB RAM, 512GB PCIe SSD + TPM Security Chip, Numberpad, Windows 10 Pro - UX333FA-AB77, Royal Blue

The ASUS ZenBook S is one of the lightest and slimmest ultrabooks you can find. Holding this in your hand it will make you think it’s not there. But it is. It weighs 2.2 pounds and it’s less than an inch thick. And fully made from aluminium.

On top of that, ASUS was able to put in a powerful 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor.

For a low power processor, it is definitely capable and used in a lot of high-end ultrabooks. For the RAM you get about 16GB and the storage device is a 512GB SSD.

The display is also great. A 13.3-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display which has great viewing angles. Colours are also great. There is no washing out and everything looks crisp and sharp.

Battery life is also decent. You are able to get on average 8 hours of battery life under normal workload before it needs to recharge.

The webcam on top of the display is bad. It is a low-resolution Webcam. The speakers are also poor. The trackpad is average and not that responsive.

Though the ASUS ZenBook S has its weakness. Its strengths make up for it. A lightweight machine, aluminium body – not a fingerprint magnet – with a powerful processor makes it difficult not to dislike.

Pros

Great Port Selection

Thunderbolt 3 Port

Solid Performance

Lightweight Machine

Cons

Microsoft Surface Pro 6

Microsoft  Surface Pro 6 (Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB)

The Microsoft Surface Pro 6 is the Microsoft Surface Book 2’s little brother. It’s more affordable than the Surface Book 2 with similar functionality.

Just like the Microsoft Surface Book 2 you are able to detach the display from the keyboard to give you true tablet mode.

But the catch is that the keyboard and stylus pen is sold separately. The back of the display also has a kickstand which you can adjust to make it sit at an angle.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 6 is powered by a quad-core 8th Gen Intel Core i5. A decent processor that can handle a lot of applications and everyday tasks. It has 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD for storage.

To be honest, 128GB is not enough for today’s files. Fortunately, there is an option to upgrade to 256GB or even 512GB.

The display is also rich and beautiful like the Microsoft Surface Book 2. A 10-inch PixelSense display with a 2736 x 1824 resolution.

Colours don’t look washed out and everything else is sharp and crispy. Battery life is also above average. It’s able to last 8-9 hours of normal usage.

Overall, the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 is a solid choice for those who want to be able to switch between a true tablet and laptop.

What might put you off is its single USB 3.0 port. Quite disappointing that Microsoft made it have a single USB port.

Nevertheless, it has good battery life and performance needed to get your job done. You can also check out this rugged case to give your Microsoft Surface Pro 6 extra protection.

Pros

Lightweight And Slim

Apple MacBook Air

New Apple MacBook Air (13-inch, 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB) - Space Gray

The Apple MacBook Air will satisfy your lightweight and battery life needs. This gives you the utmost flexibility and combining that the Apple iPad Air will make your work easier. Even more so when you meeting with a lot of clients.

The display is very beautiful. A common feature of the Apple MacBook. This makes them the number one choice when it comes to graphic-related work.

The colours are rich and crispy. The screen is bright and viewing angles are great. On top of that, the Retina display has a resolution of 2560 x 1600.

The battery life is also superb. One of the best out there. It lasts about half a day. All this was made possible thanks to its low power processor and RAM.

Because of this, you can’t expect stellar performance from it. Just enough power for everyday tasks and some.

The processor is an 8th Gen i5 dual-core Y processor. Y processors are very low power and so they are not that powerful. You can check out this guide for more info on Intel processors.

The low power processor also doesn’t justify the price it is available at. Laptops in that price range have at least 8th Gen Intel quad-core U processors. And the Apple MacBook Air doesn’t come with regular USB ports.

Instead, you get two Thunderbolt 3 ports which require you to get a dock.

Still, the lightweight design and long battery life make it possible to carry this around. This even becomes more important when you meet a lot of clients in a day. Because most meeting places might not have power outlets.

Pros

Beautiful Display

Long Battery Life

Cons

No Regular USB Ports

Chromebooks are laptops have been installed with ChromeOS. They are much cheaper than traditional laptops. The Samsung Chromebook Plus is a 2-in-1 Chromebook that has solid build quality and a nice design.

In addition to that, the Chromebook is light just under 3 pounds and comes with its own stylus pen. You can use this to quickly edit your works whenever the need arises.

In the performance department. It is powered by an Intel Celeron processor and has 4GB RAM. Chromebooks are not powerful machines. Because of this certain intensive tasks won’t run smoothly on it.

The storage device is a 32GB eMMC which is faster than HDDs but not SDDs. You will be able to boot up the device quickly and access files. The storage is also expandable up to 400GB via SD card.

The battery life is great. You are able to get between 9-10 hours of normal usage before requiring a recharge. The touchpad is a bit finicky and lags a bit. You also need to be connected to the internet at all times to use the Chromebook to its fullest.

The Samsung Chromebook Plus is a cheap option for realtors or real estate agents who are not able to afford the more expensive laptops. This 2-in-1 Chromebook is light, has the top-notch build quality and above average battery life.

HP Pavilion 15 15.6' IPS Touchscreen Full HD (1920x1080) Business Laptop - 8th Gen Intel Quad-Core i5-8250U, 8GB DDR4, 1TB HDD, USB Type-C, FHD IR Webcam, WiFi AC, HDMI, Ethernet RJ-45, Windows 10

The HP Pavilion 15 is the perfect budget laptop for real estate agents and realtors. An affordable laptop that offers a lot of value.

The HP Pavilion 15 is powered by an 8th Gen quad-core Intel Core i5. Powerful enough for a lot of tasks. As a real estate agent, you won’t have any problems concerning performance.

The HP Pavilion also has a massive amount of storage – a 1TB HDD and slow. Lots of storage is a good thing but swapping it out with an SSD will make things run faster and smoother.

The battery life is below average being able to last 6-7 hours under normal usage. As a realtor or real estate agent getting a laptop with a good battery life is paramount.

This HP Pavilion doesn’t really cut unless you change the power settings to ultra-saving mode. Where it does cut is its slim and lightweight form factor. You can easily carry this anywhere with you.

The 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) touchscreen display has a poor backlight. This makes it difficult for outdoors use. The display is just not bright enough.

Still, the HP Pavilion 15 is a cheap laptop that has a good processor and lightweight form factor. Easily the best cheap laptop for realtors and real estate agents.
