And to do that, the CPU needs to work much harder, and if the emulator is 100% software, the processor has to interpret all instructions.
This means the host PC needs to be several times quicker at processing than the traditional hardware, to ensure stable performance.
Which allows the host computer to run programs just like the original hardware.

However, emulators like Bluestacks meant to emulate android OS would be more CPU dependant than GPU. Unless you are playing a game within the emulator, then the GPU becomes involved.
