Here’s Our List Of The Best-recommended Laptops For Watching Movies, Streaming Netflix And Listening To Music

Best Overall

Apple MacBook Air

macbook air
Apple MacBook Air

MacBooks have one of the best displays on the market. Retina (2560 x 1600) displays that have above average colour accuracy, reproduction and vibrancy.

And this gives you a rich display for not only watching movies but also if you work with colours. This model sports a 13.3-inch Retina IPS display.

In addition, to the display, it is very light weighing almost 3 pounds and a little over half-an-inch thick. Build quality is also solid something Apple does well.

An aluminium unibody design. Battery life is impressive lasting somewhere between 9-10 hours of normal usage.

Performance could be better. An 8th Gen i5 dual-core processor, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD. The storage might not be enough especially if you like to keep a lot of multimedia and files.

Investing in an external is one way around its small storage because the MacBook Air maxes out at 256 GB. Most games will definitely not be playable because of the lack of a graphics card. Only the least demanding ones.

The Apple MacBook Air has two Thunderbolt 3 ports. The good news is that you can connect an external GPU to it if you are serious about gaming and external monitors with up to 4K resolution.

The bad news is that there are no Type-A ports. You have to get a dongle to be able to access HDMI, Ethernet ports and even the USB Type-A ports.

The MacBook’s Retina display is its biggest strength. Most laptops come with Full HD (1920 x 1080) but its high resolution and above colour accuracy make one of the best laptops for movies and music.

It would have been the best if not for the absence of Type A ports and its performance. An alternative to this is the Dell XPS 13 which has more storage and better performance but a lower resolution display.

Pros Cons
Splendid Display No USB Type-A ports
Thin And Light Not A Lot Of Storage
Great Battery Life

Huawei MateBook D

Huawei MateBook D 15.6-Inch Full HD IPS Notebook Computer, Intel Core i7-8550U 1.8 GHz, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce MX150 2GB, Windows 10 (53010BLA)

The Huawei MateBook D is a cousin to the Huawei MateBook X Pro but cheaper. A great screen, solid stereo speakers and a long battery life make it a great laptop for watching movies and streaming on Netflix.

Not only that, it has a dedicated NVIDIA MX150. An entry-level graphics card which is powerful enough to do some casual gaming like Fortnite, Minecraft, Overwatch etc.

AAA games will have problems running smoothly unless play on low settings.

The CPU is an 8th Gen Intel i7 quad-core, 16 GB RAM, and combined storage of 256 GB SSD plus 1 TB HDD. A lot of storage to store movies and music.

On top of that, it is very lightweight weighing a little over 4 pounds and almost half an inch thick. In addition to that, it has two USB 3.1 and a USB 2.0 port.

Battery life also lasts 8-9 hours of normal usage. Enough battery life to watch four two-hour movies before plugging it in for a charge.

Where the MateBook D fails the absence of a backlit keyboard and a Thunderbolt 3. Most laptops in its price range have a backlit keyboard.

Also, there is a USB Type-C or a Thunderbolt 3 port which the MateBook doesn’t have. You should skip this laptop if those two are deal breakers for you.

Nevertheless, Huawei MateBook D offers a lot of value in terms of its battery life and display. This makes it great for multimedia and can also be your daily driver for work or other tasks.

Pros Cons
Lots Of Storage No Backlit Keyboard
Great Battery Life No Thunderbolt 3
Thin And Light

HP Spectre X360

HP Spectre x360 15-CH011DX 4K IPS 2-in-1 Touch Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7-8550U NVIDIA GeForce MX150 512GB SSD 16GB RAM Windows 10 (Renewed)

The HP Spectre x360 is one of the best convertible laptops in the market. HP’s flagships convertible comes with a 4K (3840 x 2160) sharp display with above average colour accuracy and reproduction. In short, the display is vibrant.

The build quality is also top-notch made of aluminium. It looks premium and has a professional feel to it. Even though it’s great it has made the HP Spectre deceptively heavy.

Deceptively heavy because a weight of 4.6 pounds isn’t heavy but because of its aluminium compact body has made it seem heavy.

Tablet mode is also uncomfortable to use because of its sharp edges and 15.6-inch display. It might be too big to use as a tablet.

The performance is great. It powered by an 8th Gen Intel i7 quad-core, 16 GB RAM and an NVIDIA MX150. Enough power for everyday use and some more.

Casual gaming won’t also be a problem. In addition to that, it has a massive storage space of 512 GB SSD.

The battery life has enough juice to last you about 8-9 hours of normal usage. It also has a Thunderbolt 3, USB Type-C and a USB 3.1.

The HP Spectre is a great laptop for casual gaming and watching movies. It also has enough power to be your daily driver or to be used in a professional environment.

Pros Cons
4K Display Deceptively Heavy

Acer Aspire E15

Acer Aspire E 15, 15.6' Full HD, 8th Gen Intel Core i3-8130U, 6GB RAM Memory, 1TB HDD, 8X DVD, E5-576-392H

The Acer Aspire E15 is for those you like to binge watch movies, stream on Netflix and listen to music but do not what to spend a lot of cash.

A budget laptop only to watch movies or light work nothing more. It has its strengths and weaknesses.

First of all, it is an under $400 that has an 8th Gen Intel i3 processor, 6 GB RAM and a 1 TB HDD.

The performance might not be the best to handle heavy tasks but it is enough for everyday use. The storage is also big enough to store a lot of multimedia and documents.

The Acer Aspire E15 has a plastic build. Build quality commonly found in cheap laptops. Battery life, on the other hand, is impressive lasting 8-9 hours of normal usage.

It has a good port selection, two USB 3.0, one USB 3.1 and a USB 2.0. Also, included is a DVD drive which can be a great addition depending on how you look at it.

The display is a 15.6 Full HD (1920 x 1080). It’s not sharp, colour accuracy and reproduction is also average. Dead giveaways of a cheap laptop. Audio too is average. The laptop’s weight is pretty standard for such a laptop weighing about 5 pounds and a little over an inch thick.

What makes the Acer Aspire E15 great is its budget price and the fact that most of the features it has can’t be found on similarly priced laptops.

It is definitely not the best but a solid under $400 laptop that perfectly fits the role of a cheap laptop purposely bought for watching movies or light tasks.

It has a more powerful model which is available for under $600 if you think this is not to your taste.

Pros Cons
Affordable Not The Best Performance
DVD Drive Not The Best Screen
Long Battery Life

It has an 8th Intel i5 quad-core processor, 8 GB RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti. The Intel Core i5 is 10% faster than the previous generation i7-7700HQ according to UserBenchmark. That’s quite the performance increase.
