Here’s Our List Of The Best-recommended Laptops For Watching Movies And Streaming Movies On The Internet

Apple MacBook Air

Apple MacBook Pro (13-Inch, 8GB RAM, 128GB Storage) - Silver (Previous Model)

MacBooks have one of the best displays on the market. Retina (2560 x 1600) displays that have above average colour accuracy, reproduction and vibrancy.

And this gives you a rich display for not only watching movies but also if you work with colours. This model sports a 13.3-inch Retina IPS display.

In addition, to the display, it is very light weighing almost 3 pounds and a little over half-an-inch thick. Build quality is also solid something Apple does well.

An aluminium unibody design. Battery life is impressive lasting somewhere between 9-10 hours of normal usage.

Performance could be better. An 8th Gen i5 dual-core processor, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD. The storage might not be enough especially if you like to keep a lot of multimedia and files.

Investing in an external is one way around its small storage because the MacBook Air maxes out at 256 GB. Most games will definitely not be playable because of the lack of a graphics card. Only the least demanding ones.

The Apple MacBook Air has two Thunderbolt 3 ports. The good news is that you can connect an external GPU to it if you are serious about gaming and external monitors with up to 4K resolution.

The bad news is that there are no Type-A ports. You have to get a dongle to be able to access HDMI, Ethernet ports and even the USB Type-A ports.

The MacBook’s Retina display is its biggest strength. Most laptops come with Full HD (1920 x 1080) but its high resolution and above colour accuracy make one of the best laptops for movies and music.

It would have been the best if not for the absence of Type A ports and its performance. An alternative to this is the Dell XPS 13 which has more storage and better performance but a lower resolution display.

Pros

Splendid Display

Thin And Light

Great Battery Life

Cons

No USB Type-A ports

Not A Lot Of Storage

Dell Inspiron 17

Dell Inspiron 17 2-in-1 7786-17.3' FHD Touch - i7-8565U - NVIDIA MX150-16GB - 1TB HDD

If you like big screen entertainment on a laptop. Then Dell Inspiron 17 is the best 2-in-1 laptop for watching and streaming movies.

A 17.3 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) touchscreen display that has above colour accuracy. It is also fairly bright. Unfortunately, because of the reflective nature of the glossy display outdoor use is difficult. Aside from that, it is a great display to watch movies.

And it being a 2-in-1 laptop means you can set it up in tent mode and comfortably watch movies.

Performance-wise. The Dell Inspiron is great for everyday tasks. An 8th Gen Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM and a 1TB HDD is more than enough for everyday computing. However, at its price point an SSD storage would have been better.

Battery life is decent. You are looking at 7-8 hours under normal workloads. Also, the Dell Inspiron is on the heavy side – 6.2 pounds (2.7 kg). The good news is that it is thin.

Overall, the Dell Inspiron 17 is one of best 2-in-1 laptops for movie watching and that includes Netflix and Hulu.

Pros

Big Display

Great Battery Life

Solid Performance

Cons

Glossy Display Prevents Outdoor Use

Stiff Hinges

HP Spectre X360

HP - Spectre x360 2-in-1 15.6' 4K Ultra HD Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD - HP Finish In Dark Ash Silver, Sandblasted Finish

The HP Spectre x360 is one of the best convertible laptops in the market. HP’s flagships convertible comes with a 4K (3840 x 2160) sharp display with above average colour accuracy and reproduction. In short, the display is vibrant.

The build quality is also top-notch made of aluminium. It looks premium and has a professional feel to it. Even though it’s great it has made the HP Spectre deceptively heavy.

Deceptively heavy because a weight of 4.6 pounds isn’t heavy but because of its aluminium compact body has made it seem heavy.

Tablet mode is also uncomfortable to use because of its sharp edges and 15.6-inch display. It might be too big to use as a tablet.

The performance is great. It powered by an 8th Gen Intel i7 quad-core, 16 GB RAM and an NVIDIA MX150. Enough power for everyday use and some more.

Casual gaming won’t also be a problem. In addition to that, it has a massive storage space of 512 GB SSD.

The battery life has enough juice to last you about 8-9 hours of normal usage. It also has a Thunderbolt 3, USB Type-C and a USB 3.1.

The HP Spectre is a great laptop for casual gaming and watching movies. It also has enough power to be your daily driver or to be used in a professional environment.

Pros

Beautiful Display

Great Display And Sound

Solid Build Quality

Cons

Tablet Mode Is Uncomfortable To Use

Acer Aspire 5

Acer Aspire 5 Slim Laptop, 15.6' Full HD IPS Display, 10th Gen Intel Core i5-10210U, 8GB DDR4, 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 802.11ax, Fingerprint Reader, Backlit KB, A515-54-59W2, Silver

The Acer Aspire 5 is for those you like to binge watch movies, stream on Netflix and listen to music but do not what to spend a lot of cash.

The best budget laptop for watching and streaming.

First of all, it is an under 700 that has an 10th Gen Intel i5 processor, 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD.

The performance might not be the best to handle heavy tasks but it is enough for everyday use. The storage is also big enough to store a lot of multimedia and documents.

The Acer Aspire 5 has a plastic build. Build quality commonly found in cheap laptops. Battery life, on the other hand, is impressive lasting 8-9 hours of normal usage.

It has a good port selection, two USB 3.0, one USB 3.1 and a USB 2.0. Also, included is a DVD drive which can be a great addition depending on how you look at it.

The display is a 15.6 Full HD (1920 x 1080). The display is decent at best. It has good quality to enjoy watching movies casually. However, it is not bright and so outdoor use is out of the question.

What makes the Acer Aspire 5 great is its budget price and the fact that most of the features it has can’t be found on similarly priced laptops. This makes it one of the best budget laptops for watching and streaming movies.

Pros

Affordable

Solid Performance

Good Build Quality

Long Battery Life

Cons

Dim Display

HP Pavilion Gaming 15-Inch Laptop, Intel Core i5-9300H, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, 12GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Windows 10 (15-dk0042nr, Black)

It has a 9th Intel i5 quad-core processor, 12GB RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 1650. A powerful processor that can handle demanding loads.

The dedicated NVIDIA GTX 1650 is also a great card that can handle most AAA games on medium settings. The RAM can also be upgraded up to 32 GB if you want to make it more futureproof.

The HP Pavilion Gaming sports a 15.6 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS. Bright and sharp. The colour accuracy and reproduction is above average. Everything needed to make watching a movie a pleasant experience.

ASUS VivoBook 15

ASUS VivoBook 15 Thin and Light Laptop, 15.6” FHD, Intel Core i3-8145U CPU, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD, Windows 10 in S Mode, F512FA-AB34, Slate Gray

The ASUS VivoBook is a very affordable laptop to watch movies on.

The laptop is equipped with an 8th Intel Core i3 processor and 8GB RAM. The hardware is not powerful but for watching movies and everyday tasks. It’s more than enough.

Storage space is low. You are looking at a 128GB SSD. The good news is that you will enjoy fast boot-up speeds. If you stream movies, the space won’t be a problem. But, if you download movies. Then it will be better to upgrade it.

The display is decent. A decent 15.6 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080). One of the few affordable laptops to have a decent display. Colour accuracy, reproduction and viewing angles overall are decent. A pleasant and vivid display. Unfortunately, brightness is quite low.

The ASUS VivoBook is made from plastic. It is not as rigid as the Acer Aspire 5 and so has a bit of flimsiness to it. At least, it’s light in weight almost 3.7 pounds or 1.7 kg and thin. Battery life is also decent. It’s about 7-8 hours under normal usage.

Overall, the ASUS VivoBook Thin and Light is an affordable laptop to watch movies. A solid choice if you are on a tight budget.

Pros

Classy Design

Great Battery Life

Cons

Which Laptop Is Best For Watching and Streaming Movies

Here are some few things to look out for when getting a laptop for watching and streaming movies.

CPU

Movies are not CPU intensive. So any processor will do. Intel i3 or AMD Ryzen 3 are recommended. If you have the budget. You can go higher.

RAM

Minimum should be 4GB. As of today 8GB is the recommended amount of RAM. Enough for multitasking and to some extent playing games.

Speaker

Most people overlook speakers when getting a laptop for watching movies. Unfortunately, the quality of the speaker can’t be told from the specifications. You have to watch reviews on YouTube to know if it a good one.

Display

A bright enough display with average colour accuracy is enough to enjoy your movies. Full HD (1920 x 1080) or higher resolution displays are highly recommended.

Battery Life

Most people like to watch movies with their laptop not plugged in. Battery life of 8 hours or more is recommended. This allows you to watch 3-4 movies on battery power. Here’s a guide on how to estimate battery life using the information from the laptop spec sheet.

Final Thoughts

That’s it for the list of laptops for watching movies, streaming and listening to music. Feel free to share you thoughts in the comments.
